Acton Firewise is raising $3,000 to help equip 174 local households pursuing Firewise USA recognition. We have 70 fire extinguishers on hand and need 104 more so every home receives one. Los Angeles County Fire Department is donating 156 NOAA Weather Radios, and we are purchasing Duracell AA batteries for backup power during outages. With our October 17 event approaching, we need to order supplies soon. Every donation helps us get these tools into residents’ hands.

Putting Donations to work
This is what your support makes possible. Donations help fund hands-on wildfire mitigation, including removing hazardous vegetation, branches, and debris from around local homes. Every project helps reduce risk and makes an Acton household safer and better prepared.
Removing Mistletoe and Reducing Tree Hazards
This tree was heavily infested with mistletoe, which can weaken branches and contribute to dieback over time. Donor support helped fund professional trimming to remove infested growth, improve the tree’s condition, and reduce dead or weakened material around the property. Projects like this help residents address wildfire risks that can be difficult and costly to manage on their own.
Clearing Vegetation, Reducing Wildfire Risk
Wildfire mitigation is hands-on work. Cut vegetation, branches, and other combustible material must be removed from the property after trimming and clearing are complete. Donations help Acton Firewise cover the labor and hauling needed to finish the job, leaving residents with cleaner, more defensible space around their homes.
