Bridge the Gap: Every Child Ready for Kindergarten Success
A child's future begins long before the first day of school.
Many young children in the Baton Rouge area and are not enrolled in daycare, Head Start, or other early-learning programs. Their families want the very best for them, but often lack access to books, educational toys, and resources that support school readiness.
As a result, some children enter kindergarten already behind their peers.
BRECEC's Home Start initiative is working to change that.
HomeStart is a program of the Baton Rouge Early Childhood Education Collaborative (BRECEC) a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality early learning opportunities. By providing educational services to preschoolers who are not enrolled in a learning center or Head Start, HomeStart wants every child to enter kindergarten ready to learn and succeed. We focus on the parent as the child's first and most important teacher. Through programs like Home Start, BRECEC supports children, families, and educators to build strong foundations for lifelong learning.

How HomeStart Helps Families
Through the evidence-based ParentChild+ (PC+) program, trained Early Learning Specialists bring learning directly into the home.
Families receive:
