Help an Acton Senior Complete Urgent Tree Trimming
Help us raise $1,600 to trim 6 hazardous trees around a senior's home, reduce wildfire risk, and complete urgently needed defensible space work before the insurance's deadline.

Why This Help Is Needed
An Acton senior needs urgent help trimming trees around their home. Six trees near the structure must be professionally trimmed, but the $1,600 cost is beyond what they can manage. Acton Firewise Inc. is raising funds to complete the work, reduce wildfire hazards, and document the improvements before CA FAIR Plan cancels their insurance for failure to meet the deadline. Every donation will help turn this urgent need into direct, visible wildfire risk reduction.

Putting Donations to Work
This is what your support makes possible. Donations help fund hands-on wildfire mitigation, including removing hazardous vegetation, branches, and debris from around local homes. Every project helps reduce risk and makes an Acton household safer and better prepared.

Before: Overgrown Hedges/ Hidden Fuel
In this project, Acton Firewise Inc. assisted a senior resident by trimming overgrown privacy hedges with dense vegetation and accumulated debris beneath them. While hedges provide screening and curb appeal, unmanaged growth can create a continuous fuel bed along the property. Dead leaves, branches, and trapped debris underneath the hedge become highly receptive to embers, allowing fire to ignite easily and spread laterally along the structure. The height and density of the hedge also reduce visibility and limit access, making it difficult to inspect, maintain, or defend the area during a fire. Without proper clearance, these conditions can place the home at increased risk.

After: Restoring Clearance - Safer Hedges, Safer Access
These before-and-after photos show the kind of work your support makes possible. Through donations, Acton Firewise Inc. helps vulnerable residents reduce wildfire risk around their homes, completing critical mitigation work that many cannot manage on their own. This image shows how proper hedge management reduces wildfire risk and improves defensible space. The hedge has been trimmed to a maximum height of eight feet, and vegetation beneath it has been cleared to eliminate accumulated fuel. By reducing density, removing dead material, and maintaining separation, the hedge no longer acts as a continuous fuel source. This approach keeps fire behavior lower and less intense while making the property easier to maintain and defend.

“Every donation turns community support into practical wildfire preparedness, helping Acton residents reduce risk, strengthen their homes, prepare for emergencies, and receive the tools and assistance they need to be safer.”
