When someone gets the keys to their own place, Furniture Friends makes sure they don't walk into an empty room. Case managers call us about 1,200 times a year to start furnishing their clients' homes. This year, they wait 25% less time because our warehouse expansion lets us say yes to more donated furniture.
All the furniture is donated, but everything else costs money: the warehouse, the truck, the fuel, and two people carrying a mattress up three flights of stairs on a snowy Tuesday in February in Maine.
Furnishing one household costs us about $435.
