Double Your Impact with the Gutsy Mermaid Match
The story behind the Gutsy Mermaid: The generosity behind this challenge comes from someone who knows about going the distance.
A native New Yorker, Fleur Sohtz, has been swimming her whole life and has been part of the Asphalt Green community for more than three decades. She first began swimming here when the AquaCenter opened in 1993 and is a member of our AGUA Masters team.
A former Division I athlete, Fleur has taken on some of the world’s most challenging athletic feats. In 2025, she completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, joining an elite group of just 366 swimmers, and only 150 women, to accomplish this feat.
Her journey included the 21-mile English Channel, and before that, the 28.5-mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 2021 and the 20-mile Catalina Channel swim in 2023.
Inspired by the determination and community that have been such an important part of her own journey, Fleur has created the Gutsy Mermaid Match to inspire all of us to go the distance for Asphalt Green.
Will you help is make the most of the Gutsy Mermaid Matching Gift? Gifts support Asphalt Green’s impact across all programs.
