Help Bring Essential Healthcare to the Matsés
Support a health campaign reaching approximately 1,500 Matsés people in remote communities along the Peru-Brazil border.

For the Matsés Indigenous people, accessing healthcare can mean traveling for days by river.
Their 19 communities are spread across three river basins in one of the most remote regions of the Amazon, making basic healthcare incredibly difficult to reach.
Hepatitis B is a serious and ongoing health threat for the Matsés. Dozens of community members have died from the disease, while limited access to prevention and healthcare continues to leave people vulnerable.
This October, a health brigade will travel to Matsés communities to provide essential healthcare and hepatitis B protection to approximately 1,500 people, helping respond to a request made by the community itself.
Reaching the Matsés
Hepatitis B protection requires a three-dose series to provide strong, long-term protection. The first health brigade began this process in 2025, and community members now need the remaining two doses to complete the series.
Because of the time and distance required to reach the 19 Matsés settlements, the campaign is being extended by an additional month. This will allow healthcare teams to return to the communities and administer the final two doses during the same health campaign, helping more people complete their protection against the disease.

Additional Health Services
The campaign will also provide essential health services beyond hepatitis B protection, including testing for HIV, hepatitis, malaria, and other illnesses.
Support will also help stock local health posts and community health kits with essential supplies for Matsés communities.
