Croissant’s life hasn’t been easy. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy, but his owner unexpectedly passed away. Next of kin took him in, but decided they didn't want him anymore and brought him to another shelter in NJ. Croissant eventually made his way back to us, and despite being shuffled around so much, remains the sweetest boy ❤️ Recently, Croissant went into a loving foster home and was thriving. But as we all know with dogs, trouble can happen in the blink of an eye.

⚠️ A Routine Scare Turns Into an Emergency
While in foster care, Croissant was found chewing up some plastic, and of an abundance of caution, his amazing foster parent brought him in so our medical team could monitor him. Then, things took a turn. The plastic stopped moving through his intestines. Croissant stopped eating and became lethargic... we needed to act fast. We rushed him to Garden State Veterinary Specialists for emergency surgery to remove the foreign object. What the surgeons found inside him left all of us completely shocked.

It wasn't the tiny piece of plastic causing the life-threatening blockage. It was an entire, intact baby pacifier.

The shocking part? Croissant hasn’t been around any children while in his foster home, but we did know he was with children in his former home months ago.

That pacifier had been sitting in his stomach like a ticking time bomb for months. If he hadn't swallowed that little piece of plastic, we might not have caught the blockage until it was too late. It was truly a blessing in disguise!

How You Can Help Croissant ❤️

Thankfully, Croissant is a trooper! He made it through the emergency surgery, the blockage is gone, and he is currently resting comfortably in our shelter's recovery suite.

As a non-profit, unexpected expenses like this put a strain on our medical funds. We are raising donations to directly offset the costs of Croissant's lifesaving surgery. Any donations that exceed his care will help animals just like him!

Every single dollar counts, and goes directly toward Croissant and animals just like him who need a second (or third) chance at a happy life 💙

Every Dollar Counts!

Thank you for supporting dogs like Croissant when they need it most ❤️
