By creating happy families- and keeping military families together- we serve both ends of the leash. Our lush 10 acre property will soon be a "forever home" for overlooked senior dogs from our county shelter and a dedicated haven for companions of deployed military members. We have secured a sprawling property with walking trails and space to roam. We have worked through the lengthy approval process. As a 501c3, we rely solely on the generosity of others. Let's face facts...very few people are looking to adopt a homeless 12-year-old mix breed dog with an unknown history. These dogs linger in shelters or ultimately find their final days there. These dogs create a bottleneck for the municipal Shelters across the country.
By rescuing senior dogs from overcrowded shelters, we offer them a restful 'forever home' or a tranquil space to await adoption, while simultaneously opening critical kennel space for younger dogs in our local community.
All of us at Belly Rubs are committed to finding senior dogs their perfect family and home. We will work with other shelters to remove seniors from overcrowded, noisy, and stressful shelters and give them a cozy, comfortable home. At Belly Rubs our dogs will enjoy living in a peaceful, spacious setting while they wait to be fostered or adopted. Give our senior dogs a second chance!

By creating families .. and keeping military families together … we serve both ends of the leash. A new phase of our mission came about when one of our volunteers (a retired Navy Seal) shared the unfortunate side to military deployments for dog owners. Many military personnel place their beloved pets in for-profit kennels, only to return home after their service to the harrowing discovery that their best friend was given away. All at the time they need them the most! This led to the creation of BRB (Be Right Back). Belly Rubs will house military personnel dogs while their owners are deployed for any amount of time, and we promise to never give them away. Veterans deserve (and need) to come home to their pets and know that their dogs were well loved during their tour. Through our Be Right Back (BRB) program, we ensure that no service member faces the heartbreak of a lost pet due to deployment. By pairing these dogs with fellow veterans for mutual therapy and companionship, we foster a cycle of healing and security, ensuring that those who sacrifice for our freedom return to the joyful reunion they deserve. A special volunteer group will be caring for these dogs and use this as PTSD therapy for veterans in need.
