About YMCA Youth & Government
Since 1948, the YMCA’s Youth & Government Model Legislature & Court Program has provided an unmatched experiential learning opportunity for high school students. Participants gain firsthand insight into the democratic process and build skills such as critical thinking, project management, and collaboration. The YMCA of Superior California proudly hosts delegations serving students from Sacramento, El Dorado Hills, and Grass Valley.
Delegates meet weekly to prepare for two statewide conferences. The first focuses on training in legislative, judicial, executive, or media roles and includes opportunities to run for statewide office. The program culminates in a multi-day Model Legislature & Court in Sacramento, where students wear professional attire, debate bills, argue cases, and present their work.
Participants leave with a deep understanding of government, awareness of community issues, and the advocacy skills necessary to take meaningful action. The YMCA Youth & Government Program is cultivating servant leaders equipped to shape the future of our communities.
