Together, we can ensure no animal is left behind.
A message from our CEO, Laura Toller Gardner
As we prepare to welcome animals from an urgent rescue effort in Los Angeles this weekend, we are reminded of why Pets In Need exists.
When we were asked if we could help, we took a close look at our capacity, our resources, and our responsibility to the community we serve every day. The majority of the animals in our care come from right here in our local neighborhoods, and that commitment remains unwavering. At the same time, when circumstances arise and animals are in immediate need, we believe it is our responsibility to step forward when we can.
This weekend, we expect to bring up to 20 animals into our care.
Each one will need medical attention, nourishment, behavioral support, and time to heal. On average, the cost of care is $1,200 per animal, and for many, it may be more. These are not just numbers, they represent lives that deserve safety, compassion, and a path forward.
This is where our community becomes part of the story.
How you can help:
Adopt: Opening your home creates space for another animal to be rescued. It is one of the most immediate and meaningful ways to be part of this effort.
Donate: Your support ensures we can provide the care each animal deserves from the moment they arrive through the day they go home. It also allows us to respond when moments like this arise, without hesitation.
While our roots are local, our mission calls us to do more. We are here for our neighbors, and we are also part of a broader network of care that ensures animals receive help when and where it is needed most. My heartfelt request is please make your best gift right now, and share this pressing rescue need with others in your life who value animal lives the way you do.
This rescue effort is possible because of you.
Together, we will provide safety, healing, and a second chance.
With gratitude,
Laura Toller Gardner
