State of Mind Cafe — Built by the Community, For the Community
We’re coming together to build something Santa Barbara has never had before.
State of Mind Cafe will be the first and only nonprofit cafe in our city intentionally designed by and for the disability community — a fully inclusive, accessible space where people of all abilities can gather, work, create, and belong. But more than that, it will be a living, breathing example of what a community can build when it shows up for one another.
State of Mind Cafe brings to life something downtown Santa Barbara has been missing—a vibrant, inclusive hub created by and for the disabled community. This is more than a café; it’s a place where individuals with disabilities are not only welcomed, but truly empowered, celebrated, and seen.
It’s also an invitation to the broader community—to come together, to listen, to learn, and to grow. In this space, connection replaces division, understanding replaces stigma, and everyone who walks through the door becomes part of something bigger.
By blending accessibility with creativity, State of Mind Cafe will become a dynamic cultural center where artists of all abilities can showcase their work, perform, and host events—free of charge.
State of Mind Café will provide meaningful job opportunities to people with disabilities, providing not just an income, but also opportunities for connection, friendship, and community engagement.
