About The La Buena Vida Program

La Buena Vida is a community-based prevention program designed to help Latino adults age 50+ reduce risk factors for heart disease, cognitive decline, and dementia through culturally grounded wellness programming.

The program is delivered through the Don Knabe Wellness Center, located on the campus of Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and operated by Rancho Research Institute.

Together, these institutions form part of a nationally recognized ecosystem focused on rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term quality of life for people with disabilities and chronic health conditions.

La Buena Vida extends this mission beyond clinical care and into the community by creating a welcoming space where Spanish-speaking older adults can come together to move, learn, and support one another.

Through culturally familiar activities such as dance-based movement, nutrition education, and group engagement, the program encourages participants to build healthy habits while strengthening social connection and community belonging.

Supporting La Buena Vida means investing in:
✔ Health equity for Latino communities
✔ Prevention of heart disease and dementia
✔ Accessible wellness for older adults
✔ Community-centered rehabilitation and recovery
✔ Long-term improvements in quality of life

Together, we can ensure that more older adults have the opportunity to experience la buena vida, through health, connection, and community!
