Cultivating Community. Sustaining Opportunity.

Our free K-12 out-of-school programs are designed to support the long-term growth of students academically, socially, and emotionally. We’re playing the long game: investing in our youth today so they can thrive tomorrow.
But long-term results require long-term investment.
Your monthly pledge helps sustain the programs, mentorship, and opportunities our community relies on every day.
Why Your Support Matters
For more than 60 years, St. Francis Neighborhood Center has remained deeply rooted in West Baltimore’s Reservoir Hill community. Through times of challenge and times of growth, our commitment has stayed the same: to be a place where neighbors gather, students learn, families find support, and community thrives.
Recently, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we completed a decade-long, $10.6 million capital campaign that expanded our space and strengthened our ability to serve. But buildings alone don’t sustain a community — people and programs do. Continued investment is what ensures our programs remain strong and accessible for generations to come.
It costs $4,964.28 per year to provide one child with our comprehensive programming. That investment looks like:
$1,241.07 per quarter
$413.69 per month
$103.42 per week
$25.85 per day
Despite rising costs everywhere, we’ve worked hard to keep our per-student cost nearly the same as it was five years ago.
Meanwhile, the quality and reach of our programming continue to grow.
In the last year, we have:

Expanded enrollment by 44%
We're serving more students and families than ever before! After severe government funding cuts in 2025 forced many comparable programs to close their doors, we quickly responded to the need.
Despite this, our waitlists remain long — underscoring the critical nature of our work.

Added a new group & instructor
In an effort to help bridge the transition from elementary to middle school AND cater to the needs of our program families, we established a new class group specifically for 5th & 6th graders.Â
We now have five instructors in five classrooms, with each group containing two grade levels.

Invested in key resources
This year, we've bolstered our tutoring program to include specialized, small-group coaching by paid professionals for select students in need of support.
These investments are directly translating to significant improvement in math and reading.
Our mission is to dismantle inequity by cultivating community —
and that's something we can all take part in.
What kind of community do you want to help cultivate?
A monthly pledge — no matter the size — helps sustain the programs, relationships, and opportunities that make this community stronger every day.
