Every snare tells a silent story of suffering—one that threatens wildlife, forests, and the people who live alongside them.
Every year, millions of animals are injured or killed by wire snares—cheap, silent traps that cause immense suffering and threaten entire ecosystems. Snares do not discriminate: they maim endangered wildlife, livestock, and even people, deepening human–wildlife conflict and pushing vulnerable communities further into crisis.
Through Freeland’s Surviving Together program, our frontline teams work alongside local communities to stop snaring at its source. Rangers, community guardians, and local leaders patrol forests, remove deadly traps, support victims of wildlife crime, and promote practical, sustainable alternatives that protect both livelihoods and biodiversity. This approach recognizes a simple truth: conservation cannot succeed without people, and people cannot thrive without healthy ecosystems.
Counter-snaring is more than removing traps—it is about restoring safety, trust, and balance. Each snare removed prevents prolonged suffering, protects endangered species, and reduces the risk of violent encounters between humans and wildlife. At the same time, community engagement and education help break cycles of poverty and exploitation that allow snaring to persist.
By supporting this fundraiser, you are directly equipping Freeland’s teams with the tools, training, and local partnerships needed to save lives on the frontlines. Your contribution helps ensure forests remain safe spaces, wildlife can recover, and communities can live securely alongside nature.
Together, through Surviving Together, we can end snaring and build a future where people and wildlife are protected—side by side.
