Catherine Castellanos* - Macbeth

Catherine Castellanos (she/hers) Grateful for family, friends-old and new, community, kindness, hope, and the insistence on love. Grateful to go dark and deep dive, especially when blessed to rise again up to the surface, communing with community. Many blessings and occasions that fit this description have led me here to this now. Meeting Campo Santo in 2001, in Luis Saguar’s Hotel Angulo, directed by the esteemed Margo Hall. Finding my family and brother from another with Sean San José, getting introduced to California Shakespeare Theatre in 2002, beginning a 14 season relationship as actor and associate artist. Six seasons were then had at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the first of those seasons with the world premier of Lisa Loomer’s ROE, a co-production with Berkeley Rep and DC’s Arena Stage, receiving a Helen Haye’s nomination. Other regional houses consist of La MaMa in NY, Yale Rep, The Lensic, Portland Center Stage, San Jose Rep, A.C.T., to name a few. The healing power of art was further identified in working restorative justice with the men in blue in San Quentin, and with formerly incarcerated young women on Bryant in SF-creating plays with powerful storytelling. And to Migdalia, and all the writers-you are what makes it all happen, and why we all come together. Mil gracias. Peace and Love.
