WCA - Water Quality Program

Our program is at risk of shutting down. Join us to keep Nosara’s water clean, safe, and protected — for people and wildlife alike.
About WCA Water Quality Program
The only scientific source monitoring water contamination in Nosara. Our team measures fecal bacteria and other key indicators at six coastal sites every week.
This data that keeps sea turtles, marine life, surfers, fishers, and the community safe.
Rising costs, global challenges, and reduced donations now put this essential work at risk. Each site costs nearly $5,000 per year — a $30,000 annual effort to keep our beaches, rivers, and ocean safe.
Thanks to volunteers and local supporters, the program has grown, but we can’t continue in 2026 without your support.
OUR GOAL
$30,000
Before the end of the year, to ensure testing at 6 sites through 2026.

"A visiting guest was sickened last week after surfing in contaminated waters. The data you are collecting is important. Thank you for this service." --Jerry Schoendorf
