Help Us Grow Futures –
From A to Z
Your donation to the A to Z Fund supports Oakland public schools by funding music, sports, field trips, and more.
We believe kids who come to school with less need more.
The A to Z Fund provides mini-grants to Oakland teachers at schools with the highest need that support enrichment programs and teacher development opportunities that celebrate play, deepen creativity, and help students explore the wider community.
Make a donation and your gift will automatically be doubled through a generous match from the Maxwell Hanrahan Foundation, and will help us reach our goal of raising $100,000 for A to Z mini-grants next school year.

This year, the A to Z fund put funding in the hands of teachers to bring enriching, curriculum-aligned projects to their classrooms.
This Teacher Appreciation Month, help the Ed Fund continue to support teachers with a gift to the A to Z Fund.

"This grant supported my advisory class... by addressing food insecurity while building community and practical life skills. Students were able to eat nourishing food during the school day while learning how to prepare affordable meals. In addition to meeting an immediate need for food, this project helped students build confidence, independence, and essential life skills such as basic cooking, meal planning, and teamwork."

"The A to Z Fund project had a meaningful and lasting impact on both our students and our school community. For me as an educator, the project reinforced how powerful
representation and proximity are in shaping student motivation and self-belief. The grant did more than fund speakers; it helped create moments that shifted mindsets, expanded aspirations, and affirmed our students’ sense of identity and potential."

"Facilitating a group like this transformed my staff-student dynamic. I gained deeper insights into my students' lives, which allowed for more responsive and compassionate teaching in the regular classroom. Seeing the direct emotional benefit of my work—beyond test scores—is a powerful antidote to staff burnout. It reminds me of the 'why' behind my career. "
